What We Believe

what we believe

God

We believe in God the Father. God is sovereign, holy, and loving—calling us toward justice, mercy, love, and grace. We believe that God created the world as good and continues to be present and active in it. We believe God is revealed to us in the Holy Scriptures—both the Old and New Testaments—and in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who became fully human for our sake. In life, Christ revealed God’s love; in his death, he bore the weight of sin and separateness; in his resurrection, Christ conquered the power of death. We believe it is through Christ that we are reconciled to God and to one another.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, God’s presence guiding us today. We believe the Holy Spirit invites us to faith, comforts us in our struggles, convicts us of sin, and commissions us for service. Through the Holy Spirit, we are united to Christ, made members of the holy, catholic, and apostolic church, and equipped with gifts for ministry. We believe the Holy Spirit is at work, renewing our hearts and minds, and moving us towards the goodness of God’s promised future.
